Group Tours & Programs
The Dossin Great Lakes Museum provides engaging educational, fun experiences for people of all ages. Please fill out the Register for a Tour form at the bottom of this page.
Guided tours must be booked a minimum of four weeks in advance. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation letter with an invoice and other important information. Full payment is due prior to the program date. Group tour payments are non-refundable so please ensure your guest count is accurate.
Please note:
- The Dossin Great Lakes Museum does not allow self-guided groups of more than 30 people without a reservation. If self-guided groups are not booked in advance, they may not be granted access to the museum, please call 313.833.1801 to reserve.
- Should you need to reschedule or cancel your reservation, please contact our education team as soon as possible (313.833.1801), so that we can accommodate your reservation changes.
- Use of museum spaces on closed days or after hours is an additional charge of $150.
- All prices listed below include general admission.
GUIDED TOURS
Museum educators lead guests through an interactive tour of key museum exhibits.
Maritime History Tour
Whether by birch bark canoe, sailing ship, steamboat, hydroplane or giant freighter, Detroiters have used the Great Lakes to build their city, their fortunes and their lives. On this tour, guests will discover Detroit’s connection to the Great Lakes from the building of Fort Pontchartrain du Detroit to the sinking of The Edmund Fitzgerald.
- Capacity: 60
- Length: estimated 60 minutes
- Cost: $6 students, $8 additional chaperones, $11 adult, $10 senior
- Tour Times: Fridays starting at 10:30 a.m. and every 30 minutes after until 3:30 p.m.
- Virtual Tours : 60 minute virtual tours are available for $250 for up to 60 people
